No Nav? here are the directions

Vicarage Farm Holiday Cottages are in the middle of the Peak District National Park and there are many different routes here, both direct and scenic. We are located midway between Sheffield on the M1 and Manchester on the M6.

If you are travelling on the M6 from the south we would suggest leaving the motorway at junction 18 (Holmes Chapel) and following the A54 to Buxton via Congleton. From Buxton, follow the signs towards Bakewell along the A6. The A6 initially winds along a valley and then gains height. Shortly after reaching the limestone plateau take the left turn (B6049), signed to Miller’s Dale and Tideswell.

Coming from the north via the M6, leave at junction 30 and take the M61 Manchester to Junction 2 at Stockport, then follow signs for Buxton and the A6 then A623 to the Tideswell junction (B6049) at the Anchor pub.

If travelling north up the M1 we would advise leaving at junction 29 and taking the dual carriageway (A617) to Chesterfield.  At Chesterfield follow the sign for Bakewell along the A619.  Follow this road to Baslow.  At Baslow take the A623 and follow this main road through the villages of Calver and Stoney Middleton.  Continue along the A623 until the crossroads with the Anchor pub on the right; Tideswell is signed to the left. Turn left along the B6049 towards Tideswell.

From Tideswell

The B6049 passes through the centre of the village of Tideswell where all the local facilities are based including a cash point, post office and doctor.  Take the road between High Nelly’s café and the Corner Chippie and pass the Market Place on your right (now used for car parking).  After 100 metres take the left turn (signed Wheston) up the hill.  Drive just over a mile and we are the fourth property in the hamlet of Wheston (unmarked).  The holiday cottages, with the exception of Hope Cross Stable, are on the right with parking outside each of them; Hope Cross Stable is on the left with parking outside the door.  Parking for B&B is in the car park beside Hope Cross Stable.

(Unfortunately, some Sat Navs require a road name, but the lane through Wheston is so tranquil it isn’t busy enough to merit a name)
